Honolulu, HI (June 12, 2023) - EMS in Honolulu reported that two people sustained injuries in an accident that happened at Honolulu Community College. The incident occurred on June 8 at around 1:00 p.m.
According to local reports, an elevator fell from the third floor to the ground on Thursday afternoon that was occupied by two people who sustained serious injuries. They were identified as a 58-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man.
Paramedics responded to the scene and treated the two injured parties. They were taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Their names have not been reported at this time.
The elevators are currently being repaired and inspected, according to the Honolulu Community College Chancellor. A power surge had happened earlier in the day, which may have contributed to the incident.
We hope for the full recovery of the people with injuries. No further information has been reported at this time.
Premises liability claims happen when someone sustains injuries or loses their life on another person’s property that was negligently maintained. Property owners can be held liable for damages and injuries that happen on their property if they fail to uphold their legal and moral duty to safely maintain it so as to prevent hazards, damages, injuries, and more.
Premises liability cases can happen virtually anywhere, including homes, businesses, and other public spaces. Slip and fall accidents, dog bites, and other conditions that result in unsafe situations constitute premises liability cases. Even inefficient security can be considered grounds for premises liability.
A poorly maintained or protected property may cause someone to become injured but also may result in a robbery, assault, or worse. For example, if the building is too easily accessible from the outside or locks aren't maintained. The lawyers at Leavitt, Yamane, & Soldner are standing by and ready to assist. Swimming Pool Accidents
If a property owner failed to take the proper safety provisions to maintain the safety of the area and a swimming pool accident happens, they may be held responsible for the injuries that result from the accident. For example, if a fence does not surround the pool or is left unlocked, a child could possibly wander in and drown.
