Kohala, HI (May 31, 2023) - Two individuals were injured in a two-car collision on Tuesday, May 30, in South Kohala. Authorities say that the wreck occurred just after 1:30 p.m. on Kawaihae Road. 

A 46-year-old and 41-year-old sustained injuries in the crash that occurred for reasons still being investigated. Both victims were transported to North Hawai’i Community Hospital. Later on, they were both airlifted to O’ahu to Queens Medical Center for further care. 

The 46-year-old was in critical condition, while the 41-year-old was listed in stable condition. Authorities found that the older individual was operating a blue 2003 Acura RSX headed east when he was involved in a head-on crash with a white 2017 Kia Forte operated by the younger individual. 

Authorities continue to investigate the details of the collision.
