Maui, HI (June 8, 2023) - A car crash was reported in the Kula area of Maui on the afternoon of June 8. At approximately 1:00 p.m., the crash was reported to local officials, who promptly responded to the crash scene. 

Sources report the incident occurred when one vehicle was involved in a crash and left the roadway. Five individuals became trapped inside the car, and two sustained injuries. The vehicle reportedly struck a tree for reasons still under police investigation. 

One lane of Crater Road was closed for some time while crews worked to help the injured parties and investigate the details of the crash. A teenager suffered severe lacerations, and the driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries to both arms. 

The people involved have not been identified at this time.
